Flexanville Valley

Little river of 11.5 km long, the Flexanville took the name of the village where it arises at an altitude of 120 m. Its waters, swollen by several brooks, join those of the Vaucouleurs in Septeuil.

From the Gallo-Roman times, this cozy valley has attracted the interest of men who, thanks to the water, have exploited the resources of the land and built castles, churches and monasteries.

A dozen villages retain the traces of this glorious past.

THE NATURAL SITE OF ORGERUS

The town is situated on an agricultural plain and several rivers irrigate its territory: those of the Moulin de l'Etang, the Flexanville and the Vaucouleurs. The town is crossed by the Avre aqueduct that supplies the city of Paris in drinking water.

THE POND OF THE CHURCH IN ORVILLIERS

You can find many ponds during your walks.
Among them, the pool of the church, located at the exit of the village, offers a place of calm and greenery overlooking the local countryside.

THE VINEYARD OF TACOIGNIÈRES

The vineyard covered 14 ha in the 19th century.
Today, it occupies an area of 500 m² (about 150 vines) near the church. The varieties of Black Muscat of Hamburg, white grape of Chasselas and Chardonnay have been planted. The grapes harvest, begun in 2002, produces, since the vineyard has matured, approximately 650 kg of grapes; they are held the last Sunday of September or first of October, according to the grain maturity.
